Tittensor Village Hall was full of summer spirit on Saturday 15th August, as friends, families and visitors joined us for our fabulous Summer Fair.
This year’s event was particularly special, as it also marked the 70th anniversary of Tittensor Village Hall, which was built in 1956. Seven decades on, the Hall remains at the heart of village life, and it was wonderful to celebrate this milestone with so many people from the local community.
The afternoon also helped to raise funds towards the replacement of our community defibrillator, located outside the Village Hall and available for use in an emergency.
With the sun shining throughout the afternoon, the event was officially opened in traditional style by Staffordshire Town Crier, Adrian J. Basford, who gave everyone a wonderfully memorable start to the celebrations.
We were also delighted to enjoy regular performances from the Inn Ringers, our very own handbell ringing group who are based at Tittensor Village Hall. Their performances provided a fantastic soundtrack to the afternoon and were enjoyed by visitors of all ages.
There was plenty to keep everyone entertained, with a free bouncy castle proving particularly popular with our younger visitors, alongside traditional fair favourites including tin can alley and hook a duck.
Our tombola attracted plenty of interest, while the barbecue kept everyone well fed throughout the afternoon. There was also a wonderful selection of cakes and refreshments to enjoy.
Most importantly, it was lovely to see so many people spending the afternoon together at the Village Hall. Whether you stayed for the whole event or simply dropped in for a little while, your support helped to create a warm, relaxed and genuinely community-focused occasion.
Celebrating 70 years of Tittensor Village Hall was a fitting reminder of just how important the Hall has been to generations of local people since 1956. From celebrations and community events to clubs, groups and regular activities, it continues to provide a place where people can meet, make friends and enjoy being part of village life.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped organise the fair, volunteered on the day, donated prizes or cakes, ran stalls and activities, performed, cooked, served refreshments and helped behind the scenes.
And, of course, thank you to everyone who came along and supported us. You made the afternoon a great success, helped us celebrate a very special anniversary and supported our fundraising for the community defibrillator.
Here’s to 70 years of Tittensor Village Hall – and many more years at the heart of our community!
